Biography

Rod and Denyse Simair are a husband and wife team of ceramic artists from Saskatchewan, Canada. Internationally acclaimed, they are considered modern day pioneers in the field of crystalline porcelain.

The Simairs were awarded the Grand Prix at “Crystallines 2005” in Vallauris, France. This project was undertaken with the support of Foreign Affairs Canada. They also represented Canada in “Lattice Structures”, the first all-crystalline exposition to be held on North American soil, held in Kansas City, Missouri. The support of the Saskatchewan Arts Board is gratefully acknowledged. Rod and Denyse have also been invited to exhibit their work in “New Crystalline Glazes” to be held in the Netherlands in April of 2006.

The exquisite vessels by Rod and Denyse Simair include some of the rarest in the world, particularly in the areas of large wheel thrown raku and crystalline glazed porcelain.

Rod and Denyse combine their talents in a way which highlights one another’s strengths, producing rare and distinctive award winning works of art.
